In Torgon, a holiday rental is not played out over twelve identical months. A handful of weeks account for most of the demand, while other periods stay quiet whatever you do. Knowing this calendar means you can set the right price at the right time, choose when to use your chalet yourself and plan maintenance without losing bookings. Here is how the year breaks down from an owner's point of view.

Winter: the heart of the season

Torgon is the first Swiss resort in the Franco-Swiss Portes du Soleil ski area, with access to some 600 km of slopes. That is what draws most of the winter guests. For the 2025-2026 season, the Torgon ski area was open from 20 December 2025 to 29 March 2026. The exact dates are set each year by the lift company and depend on snow cover: since the village sits at around 1,085 metres, the start and end of the season can vary from one year to the next. Before opening your winter calendar, check the dates announced on the resort's website.

Christmas and New Year

This is the most sought-after period of the year. For winter 2026-2027, school holidays in the canton of Vaud run from 24 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, and in Geneva from 24 December 2026 to 8 January 2027. These two cantons, less than an hour and a half away by car, supply a large share of Torgon's guests. Over this period it is common to require a longer minimum stay and to apply your highest rates: demand supports it.

February: several strong weeks in a row

February is often underestimated. The French-speaking cantons do not all go on holiday at the same time: the Vaud February break will run from 6 to 14 February 2027, and Geneva's February holidays from 15 to 19 February 2027. French winter holidays, staggered by zone, add to this through February and early March. The result: instead of a single peak week, you have several consecutive weeks of strong demand. Open them early and price them as high season.

January and March: the weekend season

Between these peaks, demand focuses on weekends and short stays. This is the time to relax your minimum stay (two nights rather than a week) to capture skiers from the region. At the end of March, everything depends on the snow: Easter 2027 falls within the Vaud school holidays from 26 March to 11 April 2027, which can extend the season if the ski area stays open.

Off-seasons: time to use differently

April to June and October to mid-December are the quiet periods. There is no point fighting on price to fill these weeks: demand is low whatever the rate. Yet they have real value for an owner:

Summer: a longer, steadier season

Summer in Torgon attracts a different crowd: families, hikers, mountain bikers and anyone looking for calm and a view over Lake Geneva. The resort offers hiking, mountain biking, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis, an equestrian centre and paragliding. The 2027 Vaud summer holidays run from 3 July to 22 August, which is the core of the summer season. Rates are usually more moderate than in winter, but the period is longer and week-long stays are common. To get your property ready, see our guide to preparing your chalet for the summer season.

The calendar at a glance: Christmas, New Year and the February weeks are peak season; January and March are weekend-driven; July and August form a steady summer season; April to June and October to mid-December are off-season. The school holiday dates quoted here are those published by the cantons of Vaud and Geneva for 2026-2027; check them every year, along with the ski area's opening dates.

How to put this calendar to work

Different prices for different periods

A single rate all year round is the surest way to lose money: too low in February, too high in May. Set at least three price levels (peak season, season, off-season) and adjust them according to the occupancy you actually see.

Suitable minimum stays

One week minimum at Christmas, two or three nights in January, a single night possible in the off-season: the minimum stay is as powerful a lever as price. It also limits turnovers, and therefore cleanings, during busy periods.

Open your calendar early enough

Guests targeting the festive season or the February holidays often book several months ahead. A closed calendar or rates not yet set in the autumn means bookings going elsewhere. A well-crafted listing does the rest: we share our tips in our article on optimizing your Airbnb listing in Torgon.
